The 2014 Kia Optima has a lot to recommend it. It has both many standard features, as well as a lot of options for additional packages and standalone options. The cabin is quite handsome and features easy-to-use updated tech gear, the ride is comfortable and easy, the warranty is impressively lengthy, and the crash scores are better than all other midsize sedans. There are four trim levels available: LX, EX, SX, and Limited.
Standard Features on the Entry Level LX Trim
The 2014 Kia Optima LX is the entry level trim but it’s still packed with features. Standard equipment includes 16-inch alloy wheels, a full range of power accessories, air conditioning, tilting and telescoping steering wheel, foglights, cruise control, height adjustable driver’s seat, Bluetooth phone compatibility, and a six-speaker stereo with CD player, satellite radio, iPod/USB interface, and audio jack.
Optional LX Features
There are several optional options on the 2014 Kia Optima LX as well, including the Convenience Plus Package that comes with eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat (including power lumbar), automatically dimming rear mirror, Bluetooth phone and audio connectivity, Kia’s Uvo voice command system, laminated windows in the front doors, and a rear camera.
Standard Features on the EX
The 2014 Kia Optima EX starts with the standard features of the LX and adds eight-way power adjustable driver’s seat, automatically dimming rear mirror, upgraded windows, keyless ignition, two-zone auto climate control, leather upholstery, 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, back air conditioning vents, and leather upholstery.
Optional EX Features
There are several option features and packages, including the Premium Package which includes a panoramic sunroof, four-way power adjustable front passenger seat, heated and ventilated seats in the front, driver memory settings, rear camera, Uvo voice recognition system, heated steering wheel, heated seats in the back, and an eight-speaker Infinity stereo with HD radio. There’s also the Technology Package, which further ups the ante with back parking sensors, back cross-traffic alert system, navigation system, blind-spot monitoring system, and an eight-inch touchscreen.
Standard an Optional Features on the SX
The SX’s equipment is similar to that of the EX, but it has 18 inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, steering-wheel mounted paddle shifters, sporty suspension, improved gauges, and integrated display screen. The SX models equipped with the optional turbocharged engine also get xenon headlights. The Premium Technology Package is available on non-turbo SX’s and includes everything described above in the EX’s Premium Package and Technology Package. The turbocharged SX is available with these packages, but they are offered separately, much like they are for the EX.
The Top of the Line Limited Trim
For those drivers who want it all, the 2014 Kia Optima delivers. It comes standard with all the optional EX packages, and also comes standard with 18-inch wheels, special trim inside and out, an electronic parking brake, luxurious premium leather upholstery, xenon headlights, and LED foglights.
Engine Options for Each Trim
All trims are FWD, and the LX, EX, and SX are all standard with a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine with a resulting output of 192 hp and 181 lb-ft of torque. There’s also 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder with an output of 274 hp and 269 lb-ft of torque, which is optional on the SX trim but standard on the Limited trim. All engines are coupled with a six-speed automatic transmission.
